Portfolio Visit acceptance
This is the email i received from Williams and Crosby agreeing to a portfolio visit. Below shows my response trying to arrange a day.
Mark Studios
Mark Studios is a Manchester based design company in the northern quarter.
They have done work for big clients such as Marks and Spencer and the royal exchange theater. I like the work they have
done for the bandwagon
which are the images shown.I was for an unsigned band company and i thought this related a lot to the brand identity work we were doing which includes looking for little things in the type. Mark studios has done this by creating the earphones using the b and the d. They have won numourous awards including two D&AD awards.

Dinosaur Creative agency
After two weeks of not hearing back from dinosaur i sent another email which is shown on the screen shot. I received one back saying she had forward my email on to the creative director. There was only one email address on the site which was for Emily. Learning from this I now know to ask for a specific person.
Makoto Saito
Makoto Saito is a Japanese graphic designer, his work is a mix of typography and found imagery all brought together in an interesting and clever layout. He is know for his use of Shock tactics by using imagery such as bones in his work and cutting and pasting body forms to create new obscure shapes. His work combines type photography and collage to create a surrealist image. His work has been described as disturbed dreams and he is known as Japans image maker.
Love Creative
Love Creative are a Manchester based Design company. They have done work for clients such as Nandos,Dr martins, Warburtons,v.festival and the list goes on. The thing I like about there website that I haven't seen in on other ones is they add the brief. They show the brief explain there idea and then show the final out come. The three that stood out for me was the work for the year of food and farming,Nandos and the v.festival work.
The brief for the food festival was to create a campaign that encourages children to eat the right food without boring them to death. I like the way the created little characters which look fun and interesting. The Nandos brief was to create the packaging for Nandos potato chips, and for there idea the wrote read it and weep. I like the packaging as it links with everything Nandos. The final piece of work i really liked was for the v.festival posters. There brief was to make a poster that would appeal to anyone from 9-90.
It showed on the website different ways of
making the poster work with sold out signs on it.

Studio North
Studio North are a greater manchester based design company. They have a huge client list which a few include Stockport council, Hybrid services and greater Manchester sexual health. This agency splits there work into Branding,Digital,Corporate and Brand communication. One Brand communication that stood out for me was the work they did for uni rider. I liked this because they created and designed a character which could then be used within there design work.

Fudge talk
A member of the design agency fudge came into talk to us today, usually when lecturers come in to speak to us we just get a powerpoint of different finished outcomes with this one was different.. in a good way. They showed us what they did as soon as they got the brief, we got to se all the idea generation, scamps and the pitching they went through until they got to there final outcome. There project was to design a new identity and logo for the british tennis and squash association and then we got to see the finished outcome. This was probably one of the best lectures up to now because they showed us the hard work leading up to a final idea which we never get to see.
Glorious lecture
26/02/2009 The design agency Glorious came in to do a lecture for us
Tom showed us a powerpoint of there work which they had done for the tate, Ancoats Urban village and identity and logo work they had done. The logo work was very interesting as it linked in to the project we were doing on identity. It was also good to see the work they had produced for the tate project pitch which they had lost to Thoughful. It was good to see both projects that were in the final to be chosen. The work that stood out to me the most was the pay and display ticket project. These were an invite to a free exhibition in kendals car park. It was a great idea and the typography used on it was clever. Tom also explained the design roster to us which was something i wasn't aware of before,This is where a company who develop in area such as the great ancoats work they showed us, appoint 5 design agencies to work for them.
Dinosaur Creative agency
Dinosaur Creative agency is a manchester based design company, They have wored forclients such as N power key 103, the co-op and alton towers. My favourite work on there site is the work they have done for the cow parade, The posters are quirky and humourous and has shown the manchester element by cropped images of landmarksaround the city. They have also done some adverts for clarks..these were interesting to look at as they link in with our project at the moment
